How do I install my tag?
Properly installing the interior E-ZPass tag in your vehicle is easy and essential.
  1. Clean and dry the inside of your windshield around the rear view mirror.
  2. Without removing the mounting strips from the tag, remove the tape backing from the mounting strips.
  3. Turn the tag label right side up facing you. Adhere the tag inside your car to the upper center portion of your windshield, behind the rear view mirror at least one inch to the right of the center support of the mirror and at least one inch below the top edge of the windshield, or below the tinted section of the glass.
Can I have more than one tag? Does it cost me more?
Individual applicants may request up to four tags per account. It does not cost you more if you sign-up using a credit card. A $10 per tag refundable deposit is required for check and cash customers.
Can I use my tag in other vehicles?
Yes, you may transfer a tag between vehicles as long as they are of the same vehicle class. There are penalties for using a tag in a different vehicle class (i.e. Car tag in a tractor-trailer).
What if my tag is lost or stolen?
If your tag is lost or stolen, report it immediately. Login to your account and go to Vehicles & Tags or visit one of our Customer Service Centers or call 1-888-AUTO-TOLL (1-888-288-6865) to report the tag lost or stolen and request another tag. The tag will be deactivated. You will not be responsible for any charges incurred after you report a lost or stolen tag. You will be liable for toll charges incurred prior to notification.
Are there any instances when I should not use my tag?
Yes. You should not use your E-ZPass tag:
  • If you reported your tag lost or stolen but later find it.
  • If you have an insufficient toll balance in your account.
  • If you use a different type of vehicle than noted on your account and you have not advised the Customer Service Center of the vehicle change.
At these times, it is wisest to use the silver "read prevention" bag provided with the tag to prevent possible usage violations and potential associated fees.
What if my E-ZPass tag fails to work?
Report it immediately by visiting one of our Customer Service Centers or by calling 1-888-AUTO-TOLL (888 288-6865).
I don't own a vehicle. Can I still get E-ZPass?
Yes. If you do not own a vehicle, you can still enroll in E-ZPass. Your tag can be used in any vehicle with two axles, a maximum gross weight of 7,000 pounds, and single rear tires (includes RV's with dual rear tires). Please ensure that the E-ZPass tag is mounted as per the tag installation instructions in all vehicles in which the tag will be used.
Can I alter the appearance of the tag?
Customer damaging or defacing a tag through misuse or abuse will be required to pay the full cost of the tag (minus any tag deposit). This includes pencil, pen, permanent marker, stickers, and any writing whatsoever.
